We are now proud to offer WoodWoman Botanicals’ Osage Garlic!

About our garlic:

Our colony was started in 1993 from seeds collected at one of our old Osage town sites here in Missouri. Thus the name: Osage garlic. We offer a rare stiffneck garlic variety, redomesticated from a remnant colony of one of the principal town sites of the Osage Indians of mid Missouri.

Vigorous, prolific and highly resistant to disease, the plants are tender, mild and succulent from mid March through late June and can be enjoyed fresh or cooked like green onions. Left untended, the mature plants will, by late July, have produced a top filled with seeds as well as a bulb containing several cloves. The seed head and the cloves together will produce (typically) about 60 offspring. If big bulbs are desired, simply cut the coiled scapes off as they appear, then in mid to late summer as the leaves have yellowed at least half way, lift plants and dry in a shaded location. Plants will be shipped directly from the grower from March 13 through May 1 and from September 23 to October 18. These plants are worth preserving and growing. One bundle will plant a 33 foot row.

We have been shipping live plants spring and fall for about 12 years and have shipped to all but 8 of the 48 contiguous states and to Canada. Our reorders speak to customer satisfaction.  All of our business to date has been drop ship, all parties satisfied.

Our estimated population is 6 million plants, so we can ship a few hundred thousand annually.

Compared to bulb prices our plants cost less than half. Click HERE to order or navigate to our “Products” page to order your elderberry products.  ENJOY!

Now taking orders to be shipped in spring of 2010.
